Saltwater Transom-Mount
Riptide® Transom steps up to the rigors of saltwater and never backs down. Where lesser motors fold their tents and head home under pressure, Riptide Transom brings it day after day. You simply cannot find a trolling motor better suited to give saltwater the ultimate stare down. End of story.
All of the Riptide models on this page are designed to operate on a convenient 12 volts, with the exception of the 80 and 101lb models, which run on 24 and 36v respectively. They all feature a telescoping handle and have 5 variable speeds.
As a very rough guide these engines will use approximately the same number of amps at 12 volts as the thrust rating of the engine, so for example the RT-40 model (40lbs of thrust at full power) will draw approximately 40 amps. This means that with a standard 85 amp/hour leisure battery, assuming an actual capacity of around half the stated battery capacity (voltage will drop off beyond this), you should be able to run the engine at full speed for about an hour between charges. Obviously this is only an approximation and a large safety margin should be left by the user, but this can provide a very economical method of powering a small tender etc.
